Call for Sabah's secession irresponsible - Musa Aman
MUSA: The solid bond between the Sabah Government and Federal Government had contributed to the rapid and continuous development of the state.
Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Musa Aman has described the actions of certain quarters to call for the state's secession from Malaysia as irresponsible.
"I believe the government is always willing to hear them out and ensure that our rights are safeguarded, as enshrined in the Federal Constitution.
"I also want to stress here that the state government is committed in preserving peace and harmony among the people.
"It is the government's task and responsibility to build a nation that is progressive and successful," he said in his message in conjunction with the 51st Malaysia Day celebrations tomorrow (Sept 16).
Musa also called on the people in the state to maintain the 1Malaysia spirit that had prevailed among them for so long.
"There is no room for those who want to play up racial sentiments," he stressed.
Meanwhile, he said the close and strong bond between the Sabah Government and Federal Government had contributed to the rapid and continuous development of the state.
"The state government is committed in ensuring that every plan and policy implemented by the federal government would be realised," he said.
In this regard, he cited the Government Transformation Programme 2.0, Economic Transformation Programme and National Key Result Areas, as well as projects under the Sabah Development Corridor and State Development Agenda.
He said Sabah could also feel proud of the measures taken to preserve the environment, including flora and fauna and the local ecosystem.
Musa said the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was sensitive to the needs of the people.
"The government's concern is reflected in the various programmes, such as the 1Malaysia People's Assistance Scheme (BR1M), 1Malaysia People's Shop (KR1M) and 1Malaysia Clinic," he said.
