Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak today reaffirmed Malaysia's commitment to bring home the remains of the last three Malaysian victims of the Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Flight MH17 tragedy.
"We will continue our efforts to bring home the remains of the last three Malaysians and gather forensic evidence from the MH17 (crash) site," he said on his Twitter account today.
Najib, who is on a working visit to the United States, had said in New York that Kiev could not guarantee safe passage for an international investigation team to enter the MH17 crash site in eastern Ukraine because it was unsafe as shooting and shelling were going on despite a ceasefire agreement.
He said this was conveyed to him by Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk when they met at the United Nations in New York. Najib will be in the United States from Sept 20 to 28 to attend the UN General Assembly as well as other functions.
Flight MH17 was shot down over eastern Ukraine on July 17 as it was flying from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur with 283 passengers and 15 crew on board.
