DAP should sever ties with PAS altogether

The MCA Youth welcomes the prediction by DAP’s Member of Parliament for Gelang Patah, YB Lim Kit Siang, that PAS may be completely wiped out in the next General Elections. If this prediction turns out to be true, it would mean that the country will be saved from the constant threats of the implementation of hudud which PAS had repeatedly insisted since its formation, especially after it began to administer Kelantan.
However, as we move forward from now until the next General Elections, YB Lim Kit Siang should be reminded that it was the whitewashing of PAS by DAP in the last General Elections that had led to PAS winning the 30% non-Muslim votes and thus the 7 Parliament and 29 state seats won by PAS in the last General Elections. These staggering figures mentioned by YB Lim Kit Siang are clear admission of the extent of which DAP had helped PAS in the last General Elections.
YB Lim Kit Siang must also remember that it was DAP who convinced the majority of the non-Muslim voters to support PAS in the last General Elections on the premises that PAS seeks to establish a welfare state, as opposed to an Islamic state. Propagandas that there is nothing to fear about the implementation of hudud if one does not steal or rob, and that hudud will not be implemented against the non-Muslims, were in fact propaganda of DAP in the last General Elections.
To make matters worse, the DAP’s Secretary General had even signed a letter which consented to PAS establishing an Islamic state.
Now that it is clear that DAP had helped PAS to gain more support and thus power, even though it was crystal clear from the start that PAS’ ultimate aim is to form an Islamic state, DAP cannot simply just wash its hands clean and evade responsibility over its own mistake. DAP must bear full responsibility over this whole threat that will haunt the country and our future generations.
Instead, DAP had mischievously tried to divert the public’s attention away.
First, DAP had tried to push the blame onto UMNO by alleging that UMNO had set up a trap for PAS. Thereafter, DAP had tried to shift the blame onto MCA by saying that MCA has colluded with UMNO. However, DAP had intentionally left out the fact that it was DAP who had openly colluded with PAS in the last General Elections, it was DAP who helped PAS to win more seats in the last General Elections, and it is now PAS who puts the whole issue of the implementation of hudud on the table.
After playing the blame game on UMNO and MCA, as it usually does, DAP’s perception game then escalated onto the second stage where it tried to cover up its own flaws and mistakes by suspending the co-operation between DAPSY and PAS Youth, instead of completely cutting off ties with PAS; sever ties with the President of PAS Dato’ Seri Abdul Hadi Awang but not ties with PAS; ended relationship with PAS in states like Sabah and Sarawak where PAS is almost insignificant but continue to work together with PAS not only at the Federal level but also in states like Perak, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor and so forth.
In the present third stage of DAP’s attempt to divert public attention away from its misapprehensions, DAP is now proposing for a new unity government to be formed.
All these only go on to show that DAP is not a party which will account for its flaws and mistakes, neither is it a party to lead this country for it is only a party that evades and runs away from responsibility when the need arise.
Now, let us remind DAP and YB Lim Kit Siang that the issue at hand is the Private Member’s Bill by the President of PAS to expand the jurisdiction of the Syariah Courts in its bid to implement hudud.
If passed, this will have significant impact on not just Kelantan but the country as a whole. Hence, YB Lim Kit Siang and his colleagues from DAP should stop spinning and diverting the issue away from the core issue, which is the implementation of hudud by PAS.
They should instead focus on how to stop PAS from implementing hudud and resolve this mess that they have created. And the best way to do this is no other than to end the alliance with PAS, instead of staying in the Pakatan Rakyat coalition and be held hostage by PAS. This is what DAP ought to do, and do fast, to actually save Malaysia from PAS’ threat to implement hudud.
