Exercise while having fun

At 50 and cutely overweight, I know I must do something about my weight.
And with lots of networking and meetings done over breakfast, lunch, tea, dinner and supper, I really need to exercise. With the ever slowing metabolic rate and more invitations to dinners and celebrations, I must exercise.
To look good on television so as not to fill the screen I have no choice but to exercise.
However, I just hate to exercise. So the trick is to make exercise fun.
Running very early in the morning? No fun.
Pumping and pushing iron at fitness centres that charge a lot and surrounded by people with six packs? No fun and very intimidating I must add.
What is fun? ‘Click’, ‘click’!
That is simply the sound of my trigger happy fingers on my camera as my newfound activity is taking snapshots of nature.
Over the last six months, on weekends, I have made it a point to ‘exercise’. My definition of exercise is to walk at least three kilometres and snap pictures in two solid hours.
And the results?
First, the calories. I hate to face the truth and since denial is my middle name, no weighing scale can be found in my house. Nevertheless, I have mirrors. I spend a couple of minutes every morning ‘au naturale’ to see if I have shed a kilogram or two.
I believe I have been relatively successful... little by little-lah. Honestly, I don’t really care if I only loose two kilograms a year as I feel healthy and happy.
Secondly, the photography. I have minimal knowledge on the technical part of photography. Don’t ask me about ISO or shutter speed or aperture. I will stare at you with a blank face.
However, I know my lenses and I love my Nikon D7000. Friends and strangers think I take beautiful pictures. I believe them and hope they are honest.
