22 PAS members lose party membership for joining new party - Takiyuddin
TAKIYUDDIN: They can apply to come back as PAS members but it depends on the party whether to accept or reject their application.
Twenty-two PAS members who were joining the Parti Pekerja-pekerja Malaysia (PPM) after the party was taken over by Gerakan Harapan Baharu (HB) have lost their PAS membership automatically.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said the matter was clear in the PAS Constitution (Amendment 2011) under Clause 15(1)(c) concerning membership expulsion.
"As such, PAS need not take any disciplinary action, we only have to send a letter to them merely for administrative purposes. The letter will be sent out at any time.
"They can apply to come back as PAS members but it depends on the party whether to accept or reject their application," he said at a media conference which was also attended by PAS vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah at the Menteri Besar's Official Residence at JKR 10, here today.
Yesterday, HB chairman Mohamad Sabu announced that the movement had taken over and would rebrand PPM as Amanah, and the details would be forwarded to the Registrar of Societies (RoS) as soon as possible for approval.
At the same media conference, Mohamad or better known as Mat Sabu also announced the Amanah committee line-up, headed by him as chairman, Ahmad Awang as general advisor, former PAS vice-president Salahudin Ayub as deputy chairman, Parit Buntar Member of Parliament (MP) Datuk Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa as vice-chairman, Kota Raja MP Dr Mariah Ahmad as Wanita head, and Mohd Sany Hamzan as Youth head.
