33 schools made Rompin by-election polling centres

A total of 33 schools in Rompin district will be turned into polling centres for the Rompin Parliamentary by-election on May 5.
According to Pahang Education director Rosdi Ismail, students and teachers of the schools involved would be given a holiday on that day and would be replaced on May 9 (Saturday).
"Of the 33 schools, 14 are in the Tioman state constituency, 10 in Muadzam Shah and nine schools in Bukit Ibam state seat," he told Bernama in a short messaging service posting here Thursday.
The Rompin Parliamentary by-election is held following the death of incumbent Tan Sri Dr Jamaluddin Jarjis in a helicopter crash in Semenyih, Selangor on April 4.
Following that, the Election Commission set nomination day on April 22 followed by polling day on May 5.
Jamaluddin was MP for Rompin for six terms since 1990 and in the last general election, he defeated PAS candidate, Nuridah Mohd Salleh with a 15,114 vote majority.
