Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang will win big at the PAS elections today because of hudud, predicts former Law Minister Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.
Zaid said Abdul Hadi’s victory will also be because he rejects the DAP, its ally in the Pakatan Rakyat.
“Malays think hudud will solve everything, and his victory will mean that hudud can finally be implemented in the country,” he wrote in his blog, today.
“Malays do think about the country’s problems but they want one solution to fix everything, and Hadi has promised them that,” Zaid said.
He said Abdul Hadi’s supporters had even canvassed for an institute to be established to study his thoughts and hudud.
Zaid said leaders like Abdul Hadi and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak appealed to the Malays because the Malays are lazy and do not like to think.
Abdul Hadi is bidding to retain his position against past vice president Ahmad Awang. This is also be the first time Abdul Hadi is challenged since he held the position, 12 years ago.
The last time PAS president position was challenged was 55 years ago, during the fifth PAS Muktamar.
PAS' 1,057 delegates will be choosing their new president, deputy president, three vice presidents and central committee members at the Muktamar, held at the Kuala Selangor Indoor Stadium.
