Embattled Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said he accepted with an open heart PAS Central Committee's decision today on the Selangor Menteri Besar post and the state executive (exco) line up.
PAS Central Committee which met today to deliberate on the MB crisis in Selangor decided to no longer support the leadership of Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as Selangor Menteri Besar.
The meeting, chaired by PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, also decided that the four PAS state executive councillors remaining in the current state administration continue with their duties so that the running of the state is not jeopardised.
The party has nominated two names, PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and her deputy Mohamad Azmin Ali as the candidates for the new Menteri Besar to replace Abdul Khalid.
However, Abdul Khalid said, following this development, he was taking the decision to have an audience with Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor to advise the ruler on the next steps that have to be taken.
The Sultan is currently overseas and will only be back on Aug 27.
"Until the Sultan makes a final decision, I will continue as the MB with the four PAS members in the exco.
"This is for continuity of administration to ensure the people are not affected by this political crisis," he said in a statement here.
In the statement, Abdul Khalid, who is also Port Klang assemblyman, also expressed his gratitude over the support given to him by the people in his effort to make a success of the reformation agenda in Selangor.
He also thanked Selangorians for their loyalty and patience towards seeing the issue resolved according to due process and based on the law.
