Sarawak Chief Minister and PBB President Tan Sri Adenan Satem who filed his nomination papers at the Lundu Community Hall to defend his Tanjung Datu seat today will face PKR's Jazolkipli Numan in the coming 11th Sarawak state election.
Tanjung Datu retaining officer Hamsien Atar made the announcement when nominations closed at 10am here today.
Adenan who is also Sarawak Barisan Nasional chairman has held the seat since 2006 and in 2011 retained the seat with a 3,216 vote majority after a three-cornered fight, beating PAS candidate Nani Sahari and independent candidate Gilbert Asson.
"Judging from the record, I rate the chances of the opposition as very low. I think they just want to tie me down but they have no hope of winning the seat," he said.
Tanjong Batu which has 9,894 registered voters is situated about 82km to the west of Kuching.
PBB deputy president Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg who filed his nomination papers to defend his Satok seat at Dewan Datuk MerpatiJepang, SK MerpatiJepang, here this morning, will be involved in a straight fight with PKR's Mohamad Salleh Shawakat Ali.
The retaining officer for the Satok nomination centre Dr Saadiah AbdulSamad made the announcement after nominations closed at 10am.
Abang Johari who is the incumbent, has held the seat since 1981.
SUPP President Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian takes on Bukit Kawah incumbent Chiew Wang See from DAP in a three-cornered fight which also involves independent candidate Liu Thian Leong who is also the former Batu Kawah UPP chairman.
Minister of Plantations and Commodities Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas who will be contesting a state seat for the first time will be challenged by PKR's Noel Changgai Bucking in Bukit Saban.
In the 2011 state election, the Bukit Saban seat was won by BN candidate Robert Lawson Chuat with a 2,774 vote majority in a three-cornered fight that featured PKR's Jerah Engkiong and SNAP candidate Dayrell Walter.
