Ahmad Bashah takes over as Kedah UMNO liaison committee chairman

Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah was today appointed the new chairman of the Kedah UMNO Liaison Committee, replacing Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir.

The appointment was announced by UMNO secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor in a statement.

Tengku Adnan also said that Education Minister and Padang Terap MP Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid had been appointed deputy chairman of the committee, also effective today. Ahmad Bashah had been the deputy chairman.

Muhkriz, who resigned as the Kedah menteri besar on Feb 3, had said that he would leave it to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to determine his position as the chairman of the committee.

Ahmad Bashah was sworn in as the new menteri besar on Feb 4.
