Ahmad Faizal resigns as Perak MB

Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu has submitted his resignation letter as Menteri Besar to the Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, at Istana Kinta, here, today.

However, he said, the Sultan had the power to either accept or reject his resignation.

“I had an audience with the Sultan of Perak a while ago. First of all, I have informed His Majesty about everything that has happened.

“It includes that Bersatu, UMNO and PAS have agreed to form an alliance and we have secured a majority of 32 state assemblymen to form a new government.

“When Bersatu leaves Pakatan Harapan (PH), the PH government in Perak is also dissolved.

"In line with that, I have submitted my resignation as Menteri Besar and the termination of all state executive committee chairmen with immediate effect,” he added when met by the media in the courtyard of Istana Kinta.

Earlier, he was seen entering the palace at about 9.10 am and left at 10.30am.

Ahmad Faizal, who is also chairman of Perak Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), said the central Bersatu leadership had also nominated him as Menteri Besar under the administration of Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.

He said he would respect the decision made by Sultan Nazrin on who would lead the state administration.
