Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today dismissed a rumour that the Sabah State Election will be held earlier than the 14th General Election.
Ahmad Zahid said the idea was not feasible as research is still being conducted at Barisan Nasional Federal and state level.
He also said that the decision to hold the election does not only depend on the political scenario in Sabah but also in the other States.
“This matter is still at the level where research is being conducted by Sabah and the Federal government as well the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak who is Barisan Nasional chairman’s decision.
“The outcome of the research is based on the empirical research,” said Ahmad Zahid to reporters after the simultaneous launch of UMNO branches, Wanita UMNO and Pemuda and Puteri UMNO of Kota Marudu division here today.
He also said that positive implication must be the priority in deciding when the election will be held.
Ahmad Zahid also said that he visit Sabah twice a month as work visit as what he had promised the State government and UMNO State Liaison Committee.
“We would also like to see the readiness of BN machinery at the Parliamentary and State levels,” he added.
