Barisan Nasional assemblymen have been advised not to neglect their constituencies if they manage to pull off a clean sweep in their constituencies at the 11th Sarawak State Election on May 7.
Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said assemblymen from the ruling party pact should not emulate the lukewarm dedication portrayed by Opposition assemblymen who are seen only during the election period.
Ahmad Zahid likened them to ‘bats’ seen only during fruit seasons.
“Don’t be like them in the Opposition pact. They come only during election season.
“After winning, what happened to rural development?” said Ahmad Zahid at an event in Kampung Entawa Undop, here, today.
The ‘fruit season’ termed by Ahmad Zahid refers to the election season, while ‘bat’ is to describe leaders who hardly spend time with the rakyat.
He also said that BN should continue giving its mandate based on the commitment and moves by the state government under the leadership of Sarawak chief minister, Tan Sri Adenan Satem.
“Give him the mandate. Give BN the mandate.
“I can assure you the rakyat in Sarawak will benefit from this,” he added.
Ahmad Zahid also announced that requests by the rakyat in Sarawak had been approved for the construction of new bridges and halls.
“I have also proposed other recommendations that require the attention at Federal level including improving the Sri Aman water treatment plant,” he said.
