Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) today urged Sarawak Chief Minister, Tan Sri Adenan Satem to lift the ban on its president Mohamad Sabu or Mat Sabu from entering Sarawak.
Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub said this is because Mat Sabu’s presence in the state is crucial for the party to launch its election campaign during the upcoming 11th Sarawak state election.
“We have sent a special letter to the Sarawak Chief Minister’s office to review the ban so that the Amanah president can enter Sarawak to campaign.
“It is very unbecoming to prohibit a Malaysian citizen from entering a state in Malaysia,” he said at a press conference after launching the first edition of Amanah’s weekly tabloid at its headquarters, here, today .
On March 22, Mat Sabu was barred from entering Sarawak upon arriving at the Sibu airport from Kuala Lumpur.
Before this, few other opposition leaders including Nurul Izzah Anwar, Datuk Saifuddin Nasution, Rafizi Ramli, Tian Chua and Teresa Kok have also been barred from entering the state.
