KUALA LUMPUR: Opposition Leader and Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) President, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to hold a press conference at 4.30 pm today at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
Details of the press conference were not disclosed to the media.
However, the political rumour mill is rife that the meeting today is related to reports on cooperation between PKR and UMNO.
In fact, some quarters expect the Port Dickson MP to share the latest developments on the new political alignment.
An Astro AWANI source informed that he will also highlight the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme.
In this regard, Astro AWANI will bring the latest developments in relation to the press conference in a live telecast.
Following the revelation that there were discussions that took place between the top leaders of the two parties, namely UMNO and PKR, regarding a political cooperation, the focus of the whole country is now on Anwar.
The Opposition Leader in an interview with Mingguan Malaysia on Sunday explained that the essence of the discussion was a positive one and the cooperation was not impossible if it was based on idealism and not just to save the position of UMNO 'ministers'.
The statement reinforced rumours that the two parties would establish a political cooperation ahead of the 15th General Election (GE15).
The action was believed to have been taken by UMNO after its Supreme Working Council decided not to cooperate with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) in GE15.
However, UMNO Deputy President, Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, when met on Monday claimed that he was not aware of the existence of discussions between the party and PKR to form a new cooperation in GE15.
In fact, he said, he was not informed of any meeting to discuss the issue.
