Anwar had been questioned under Section 4 of the Sedition Act 1948.
Police may charge Parti Keadilan Rakyat’s de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim under the Sedition Act after investigations are completed next week.
Lawyer Latheefa Koya said, Anwar had been questioned by police at the KEADILAN headquarters in Tropicana from 3.40pm to 4.20pm today over a ceramah he conducted in 2011.
“It appears that the police may charge him under the Sedition Act. Anwar’s statement had been recorded and it is understood that any further developments would be known in a week’s time,” she said when contacted by Astro AWANI here, today.

Anwar was questioned under Sedition 4 of the 1948 Sedition Act, over a speech he gave on March 25, 2011 during a programme organised by PKR in Taman Melawati, Gombak, Selangor.
Merely 13 minutes after he started his speech, Anwar was reported to have been warned to stop.

The ceramah was also attended by Hulu Kelang state assemblyman, Saari Sungib, Batu Caves assemblyman, Amirudin Shari and Bukit Antarabangsa assemblyman, Mohamed Azmin Ali.
The matter came to light after Azmin recorded a statement at the Ampang Jaya police headquarters on March 30, 2011 over a commotion which erupted during the programme.
Azmin is being investigated under Section 27 (5) of the Police Act and also the Sedition Act.
