All MPs of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) are of the opinion that Opposition Leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s claim to have the support of the majority among members of the Dewan Rakyat to form a new government, as just another political gimmick.
According to Bersatu Deputy President, Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu, it was seen as an attempt to destabilize the country's leadership as the people become more confident in the leadership of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in dealing with the economic crisis and COVID-19.
He stressed that Anwar's actions as PKR president yesterday were seen as trying to sabotage the country's economy by affecting investor confidence in the government's stability when his statement was reported by the international media.
"If at all Datuk Seri Anwar has the support of the majority, he should prove the allegation according to the process and methods determined by the Federal Constitution.
"This act is not at all good for the country's economy when the government is focusing on various initiatives to ease the burden of the people apart from from helping the business community to remain competitive during this very challenging period," he said in a statement on Thursday.
Ahmad Faizal also assured that all Bersatu MPs have expressed unequivocal support for Muhyiddin to continue to lead the country.
"We have full confidence in the leadership of Tan Sri Muhyiddin who has proven the government's concern in defending the fate of the people and regenerating the country's economy due to COVID-19 over the past six months," he said.
He also called on all citizens to remain calm and continue to support the Prime Minister and the government leadership to continue to focus all attention on the administration of the country in dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.
