Political parties should avoid the politics of discord and hatred, said a senior UMNO leader.
UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein said politics needed not necessarily lead to discord because it had limitations.
"Do not destroy what we have just because of a small problem. And what is important is to have a political foundation that is good for the country's future."
He said this after participating in the Malaysian United Run organised by Institut Onn Jaafar at Padang Merbok, here, Sunday.
He was commenting on a statement by Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Tun Mahathir that the establishment of Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) had given UMNO the opportunity to strike an understanding with PAS.
