Sabah Resource Development and Information Technology Assistant Minister Datuk Hamisa Samat has advised her comrades at all levels in UMNO to avoid the unhealthy culture in politics including the extreme practise of lobbying.

She said since the selection for candidates would be held in view of the 14th General Election (GE14), such cultures, if being practised, would only give paint a negative picture to UMNO and divide the party.

"Come general elections, everybody wants to be the candidate but do practise the culture of healthy politics. It is up to the top leadership to assess the work of its members who are eligible to become the candidate," she told reporters after a charity dinner organised by the Tawau chapter of the Malaysian Islamic Women Welfare Board here last night.

Hamisa said the most important thing was the togetherness of UMNO members in facing the GE14 to ensure that Barisan Nasional would win its seats.

The Tanjong Batu state assemblyman said the political stability is the key for unity among people in the country.

"Do adopt people-centric politics because we want to help the people," she added.
