PKR Deputy President Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali today denied his absence from the Sungai Besar by-election campaigning means he does not endorse the Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) candidate.
In fact, he expressed support for Amanah candidate Azhar Abdul Shukur, reiterating his stand as stated before.
"During this fasting month, there are many breaking fast events involving the Sultan (of Selangor).
"As the Menteri Besar, I have to accompany him," said Mohamed Azmin.
He added that there should not be any doubt about his support to Azhar.
"I reiterate my support for the Amanah candidate.
"Still, I wish all the best to Dr Abdul Rani in his cause, as a colleague in the Selangor state government," said Mohamed Azmin, referring to PAS candidate for the Sungai Besar by-election, Dr Abdul Rani Osman.
He was speaking during an Iftar Perdana ceremony organised by Amanah at Dewan Kampung Hala Cara Baru in Sungai Panjang here.
Barisan Nasional (BN) Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin was earlier reported as saying that the absence of Mohamed Azmin to assist Azhar in Sungai Besar seemed to confirm rumours that the menteri besar did not approve Amanah's candidate to represent Pakatan Harapan.
The last time Mohamed Azmin appeared in Sungai Besar was on nomination day on June 5 in which he was seen meeting the Amanah candidate as well as the PAS candidate.
