Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy president Mohamed Azmin Ali has welcomed the proposal by the Persatuan Ummah Sejahtera Malaysia (Pasma) on Saturday for the formation of a new political party.
Mohamed Azmin, who is also the Selangor Menteri Besar, said that in a country practising the democratic system, anyone had the right to form their own political party.
"We, PR (the opposition pact) will see first what are the ideas and policies of Pasma before making any decision," he said when met by reporters at a Selangor state-level function in conjunction with the approaching Muslim month of Ramadan, here Saturday.
He added that PR would accept any political party and individual who shared similar ideas in their struggles and policies.
Pasma had suggested the formation of the new political party to maintain the continuity of PAS following the Islamic party's decision to sever ties with the DAP at the PAS 61st Annual General Assembly, recently.
