Barisan Nasional's (BN) component parties will be in a state of alertness to the sounds of UMNO's war drums and close ranks to win the 14th general election (GE14).

MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said starting from today all BN component parties should be prepared to ensure BN continues to reap the trust of the people and rule the country.

"We can see the spirit of the blue waves which is very strong in the hall just now, this will fire up the spirit of the UMNO members and the component parties to work harder," he said when asked to comment on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak presidential policy speech when opening the 2016 UMNO General Assembly at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), here Friday.

Meanwhile, MyPP president Tan Sri M Kayveas said although the date of the general election was no yet known, the component parties must start their preparation from now because it could be held at any time.

He said that BN must adopt an outside the box approach to solve the problems of the people and must be hardworking and determined to go down to the field.

"We can hear from his (Najib's) speech there is a clear indication for the election. As such, if BN aspires to win more seats, we must start now.

"I wish to remind all BN component parties not to be influenced by the new parties and duped by issues raised by them. The new parties will not last long, unlike BN," he added. -- Bernama
