Barisan Nasional (BN) has nothing to do with the formation of a new party, Penang Front Party (PFP), said its secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
Tengku Adnan in a statement today said BN had never appointed any individual to represent it in the party.
"Whatever decisions made in BN will involve discussions with other component parties, including in providing support to any new party," he said.
Previously, the Penang UMNO had rejected links to the PFP, saying that it was not a BN-friendly party.
Its chairman Datuk Seri Zainal Abidin Osman said the involvement of Padang Besar member of Parliament Datuk Zahidi Zainul Abidin as PFP advisor did not represent UMNO but in his personal capacity.
On Monday, Zahidi was reported as saying that PFP, a new BN-friendly party in Penang intended to contest 25 state seats. --BERNAMA
