KUALA LUMPUR:The Ministry of Finance needs to hold engagement sessions with party representatives immediately before the 2021 Budget is tabled on November 6.

PKR Information Chief, Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin said the engagement sessions will be a reflection of the government's seriousness in ensuring that the Budget meets all aspects needed by the people at this time.

Taking the example of amendments or enacting previous bills, Shamsul Iskandar said political parties were often called upon to provide input and understanding on the actions and implementation to be taken by the government.

"Currently, our party (PKR) has not been called for an engagement session. We want to know too, so only then can we share our views, and not wait for it to be tabled first, then hold an engagement session.

"Many things from the voice of the people, that we see need to be translated in this Budget, in line with what is expressed by the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong," he said when contacted by Astro AWANI.

Less than 10 days left before the tabling of the 2021 Budget, Minister of Finance Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz is confident that it will not be politicised and will get strong support from all Members of Parliament for the prosperity of the country.
