The action of some parties who gave inaccurate information about Malaysia to Saudi Arabian oil company Saudi Aramco was done with greatardourto topple the Barisan Nasional (BN) government, said MyPPP president Tan Sri M.Kayveas.

He said it clearly showed that the parties concernedhadrun out of ideas and were willing to resort to slander, purportedly Malaysia was a failed state when the economic facts suggested otherwise.

"They often claim that investment, Foreign Direct Investment and as well as the economy were deteriorating by giving the impression to foreign countries that Malaysia is not safe to invest.

"This is their strategy to topple the BN government. Individuals like this do not have a clear future and direction in the political struggle, "he said.

Kayveas, who is also Special Advisor to the Minister of Transport, spoke to Bernama after attending the Free FuelProgrammeat a Shell station in Brinchang here Sunday.

Yesterday, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak said the action of tarnishing the image of the country by some parties, including former leaders would very negatively impact on the prospects and opportunities of Malaysia in garnering Foreign investments.

According to the prime minister, the bad attitude of the parties concerned almost resulted in the country missing out on the massive investment from Saudi Aramco when they channelled incorrect information on Malaysia to the Saudi Arabian oil company.

Najib said Malaysia had almost lost an investment contract of RM31 billion for the implementation of an oil refinery in Pengerang, Johor butmaterialisedduring King Salman Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia's visit to Malaysia recently. - BERNAMA
