Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Datuk Dzulkifli Ahmad gave his assurance to the people in the country that corrupt politicians will face the music even if they win at the 14th General Election (GE14).
He reminded voters to choose wisely and elect representatives with a clean slate of record of issues pertaining graft and abuse of power.
“I don’t have any personal agenda and I want MACC to be respected. I didn’t receive any orders from any leaders or politicians,” said Dzulkifli during a meeting with chief editors at the Anti-Corruption Media Caucus (ACMC) at MACC headquarters, here today.
He added that, MACC is not hesitant to take any action after the General Election as MACC needs to remain as an agency that protects the people’s interests.
“I will issue a stern statement after Parliament is dissolved. Politicians must be clean but for some, once they obtain power, they become corrupt,” he added.
He also stressed that MACC has embarked on a series of investigations involving high-profile politicians.
MACC will not act unless the democracy process has been completed.
“Investigation has begun, but we don’t want to be dragged into any political turmoil as each case will be used as political campaign at the General Election,” he concluded.
