DAP will abide by the Registrar of Societies' (RoS) order to hold fresh elections for its central executive committee (CEC).
Its national vice president Teresa Kok said the party would also comply with RoS' order to use its list of 2,576 delegates which it had used in the party election on Dec 15, 2012, and to appoint an independent auditor to monitor and manage the re-election.
She said the CEC re-election would be conducted in a special congress which is provided for in DAP's constitution.
Nevertheless, she stressed, DAP was holding the re-election "under protest", and the process would not retard the party's move to take legal action against RoS if necessary.
Kok disclosed this to reporters after handing over a letter to RoS at its headquarters here today, which was a reply to the letter from the latter ordering DAP to hold fresh CEC elections.
She was accompanied by DAP national secretary Anthony Loke.
Yesterday, RoS director-general Datuk Mohammad Razin Abdullah was reported to have said that RoS was firm in its decision for DAP to hold a re-election in a lawful and transparent manner, for it to recognise the party's CEC lineup of 20.
