Decision is final, PAS will not join Pakatan Harapan
Mohd Amar telling Astro AWANI today that PAS has no plan to join Pakatan Harapan.
PAS will not be joining Pakatan Harapan, and that decision is final, said party vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah.
He said Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) had again invited PAS to join Pakatan Harapan after the recently concluded Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar by-elections, but the Islamic-based party was not interested.
He said PAS also has yet to conduct a post-mortem on the results of the two by-elections.
"So far in our meetings, we (only) discuss current issues," he told Astro AWANI today.
When asked on the matter of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) openly supporting Amanah candidates during the by-elections, Mohd Amar said: "Yes, we're aware of that. We're not sleeping."
But PAS is not worried, he said. Mohd Amar said Amanah should instead take a close look at the votes it had garnered from the polls.
"Amanah is not a replacement for PAS because the votes they received were due to the influence of PKR and DAP; most of their votes were from Chinese voters," he said.
Besides Amanah, PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali had also repeatedly invited all opposition parties to unite and strategise to win the 14th general election.
At the same time, Mohamed Azmin, who is Selangor MB, also did not blame any party on results of the by-elections.
"I just hope the results (of the by-elections) will serve as a lesson for all political parties to not blame anyone. Don't blame the voters and rakyat, instead go back to the drawing board and re-look at how we can improve to better serve the country and people," he said.
