UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has described Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad as desperate enough to turn to the DAP to keep his political hopes alive.
He said the former prime minister obviously made a U-turn because he was previously very vocal in criticising DAP as a racist party which promoted narrow-mindedness.
Ismail Sabri, who is also rural and regional development minister said no one would have ever thought that Dr Mahathir would make such a U-turn, adding however, that for the sake of his personal political interests and that of his son's, he was willing to do anything.
"To ensure he can hitch a ride on the opposition, he is willing to do anything, and that includes making a 360-degree turn to praise DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang, whom he had fiercely criticised before," he said when commenting on Dr Mahathir''s statement during a dinner organised by the DAP in Gelang Patah, Johor yesterday.
Ismail Sabri was speaking to reporters after officiating the Table Tennis Open Championship for Bera Member of Parliament at the Dewan Rakan Muda Bera here today.
