He said this was because, so far they had not violated any of the party's regulations or constitution and no party member had filed an official report against them.

"We cannot take Facebook or Whatsapp into account, unless there is an official report made through the proper channels, then only will we take action.

"So far, they are only said to be planning the move. If they really do it, then only will we take action," he told Bernama.

The internal crisis in PAS worsened when several senior leaders from the party's progressive faction, known as G18, who were defeated in the party elections early last month, planned to launch GHB to reunite the opposition parties in their pact.

GBH is led by former PAS Deputy President Mohamad Sabu while its interim committee includes former Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Muhammad Muhammad Taib, former PAS Secretary-General Datuk Kamaruddin Jaafar, former PAS Vice President Salahuddin Ayub, as well as the party's former senior leaders such as Khalid Samad, Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli and Datuk Dr Mujahid Yusof Rawa.

On Monday, Shah Alam member of parliament Abdul Khalid Samad, who is also an interim committee member of the soon to be established party, was reported as saying Harapan Baharu which purportedly will replace PAS in the opposition pact would be formed on Sept 14.

According to PAS' constitution, party members are prohibited from joining or setting up another political organisation.

Takiyuddin said that any member who violated this ruling would automatically not be a member of PAS.

Asked if the actions of the faction who announced the formation of GHB was to provoke PAS to terminate their membership, Takiyuddin said PAS does not take action based purely on provocation.

However, he said, he was still hopeful that the group would reconsider their intention to leave PAS.

"PAS may be weak or make mistakes, but there is still a lot of room for them to work together to improve and discuss matters through the concept of musyawarah," he said.

Commenting on speculation that the PAS' elected representatives in the G18 did not announce their intention of leaving the party because of the agreement made with the party, the Kota Baharu member of parliament said the question should be directed at those concerned.
