IPOH: The Perak UMNO Youth Movement has slammed the actions of some parties who issued statements urging Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to step down from the post of UMNO president.
Its chief, Mohd Ariff Abdul Majid, said UMNO members and leaders need to think of the impact on the image of the party and the presidential institution through personal statements issued.
In a situation where the country is facing difficult times due to the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) as well as the increase in COVID-19 cases, he said the focus should be on the burden faced by the people rather than worsen the situation.
"Any disagreement should be resolved prudently and wisely through the concept of deliberation.
“The party's internal affairs do not need to be commented publicly because what is important is how to strengthen and elevate the dignity of this sacred party," he said in a statement today.
Mohd Ariff said Perak UMNO Youth is confident in the strength that has been built by the party president in upholding the sails when UMNO is hit by the waves.
"In combat, trust and confidence in the leadership that guides the organisation is the key to victory," he said.
In this regard, he said, UMNO leaders and members should be principled and consistent in their struggle.
According to him, in a situation where UMNO is facing threats from all angles, they should strengthen the party's pillars and backbone.
"Do not let this small fire burn the pillars that have been built," he added.
