Wanita UMNO chief, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil wants members not to get carried away with sudden and overly aggressive politicking which can destroy UMNO.

She said this was because Wanita was the backbone of UMNO and should be more focused on the party's agenda and remained calm under any circumstances.

"If the backbone which is Wanita is cracked or misaligned, then UMNO in general will be shaken.

"As such, Wanita must strengthen our position as the core of UMNO in facing challenges and trials of the political world, especially with the coming 14th general election (14GE)," she told reporters after opening the Jasin Wanita, Pemuda and Puteri UMNO Delegates Meeting on Sunday.

Also present were Jasin division UMNO head Datuk Ahmad Hamzah and Jasin Wanita UMNO head Datuk Zaleha Bujang.

Commenting further, considering the increasing present-day challenges, Shahrizat said Wanita hadmobilisedits machinery to face the 14GE.

"If we feel that 13GE was challenging, I see 14GE as even more challenging. So Wanita must be united in facing the generalelection," she said.

In another development, she said the action of a Langkawi Wanita UMNO delegate incriticisingparty president Datuk Seri Najib Razak in her speech at the UMNO Wanita meeting recently did not represent the views of Wanita.

"What she said did not represent the division or the Wanitamovement butit was her individual view," she said.

She added that UMNO was a party whichpractiseddemocracy and members were free to voice out their individual views.
