UMNO vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein today advised former Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir not to give up.
“I see Mukhriz as a young politician with a big heart who had to follow a long and challenging political path. I hope he does not give up,” he wrote on his Facebook account today.
“Thank you for all your efforts for the people of Kedah,” he added.
He was also thankful that the crisis had come to an end following Mukhriz’s resignation from the position on Feb 3.

He also congratulated the newly appointed Kedah MB Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah who was sworn in today at the Istana Anak Bukit.

The 66-year-old took his oath before the Kedah Council of Regency, chaired by Tan Sri Tunku Sallehuddin Sultan Badlishah at the Istana Anak Bukit here.
The council members who were present are Tan Sri Tunku Hamid Thani Sultan Badlishah and Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah.
The Kedah UMNO crisis erupted on Jan 20 when Ahmad Bashah held a press conference together with 13 other Kedah division chiefs, urging Mukhriz to step down.

At the event, Ahmad Bashah had requested for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to drop Mukhriz as MB, stating that the people of Kedah had lost confidence in Mukhriz's leadership.
