MCA Youth chief Datuk Chong Sin Woon has told the Penang chief minister to stop using schools as platform for politics.

Lim Guan Eng was also told not to blame others for being barred from entering Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Sungai Lembu, in Penanti recently.

"Actually, the Penang Education Department did not allow him (Lim) to enter the school because of the Sungai Lembu (illegal carbon filter factory) issue at the time," Chong told reporters after officiating a national Chinese school headmasters convention here Thursday.

Chong, who is also education deputy minister, said Lim was trying to go to the school (on Aug 26) to meet Sungai Lembu residents and hand over contributions.

"So, clearly this was politically motivated... we want to maintain our schools, there are no other issues whatsoever.

"He is free to attend programmes in schools throughout the state because it is the responsibility of the state government to help the federal government develop the education system," he added.

In the meantime, Chong said the issue had been blown out of proportion by Lim to give the impression that the federal government was acting unfairly against him.
