Don't link DAP with political turmoil in UMNO - Guan Eng

GEORGE TOWN:The act of linking DAP with the political turmoil in UMNO is a desperate move by sacked Barisan Nasional (BN) Secretary-General Tan Sri Annuar Musa to save his political career.

DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng said Annuar should not drag the DAP by fabricating stories about UMNO-DAP cooperation when it does not exist.

He stressed that there was no discussion made by DAP with UMNO regarding the UMNO-DAP cooperation as alleged by Annuar.

Guan Eng said he regretted the statement made by the Member of Parliament for Ketereh and described Annuar as "dishonest" in twisting the facts.

"Annuar Musa's statement is not true. (The allegation that) UMNO has a cooperation with DAP to form the central government is baseless.

"How can he say there is a government with UMNO? It has never been discussed with me. He has lost his credibility, not sincere, and speaking with a forked tongue in this matter," he said.

Guan Eng said Annuar merely wanted to use DAP to save his political career.

"I did see him wanting to sell UMNO for Bersatu. That's his problem. Don't trade the DAP, we have nothing to do with it," he said at a press conference at Wisma DAP here on Thursday.

On Wednesday, Annuar claimed that there was a move by UMNO to work with DAP, including to form a new government.

The Federal Territories Minister said he had received reports that UMNO was in the process of collaborating with DAP for that purpose.

The revelation was made by Annuar after BN sacked him from the post of BN secretary-general. He was also dropped as an UMNO representative from the Muafakat Nasional secretariat.
