'Dr Mahathir obsessed with making Mukhriz PM' - Puad
MOHD PUAD: Clearly, Mukhriz and Dr Mahathir have failed to understand that ultimately, UMNO will reject leaders who are greedy for the crown and power.
The alleged motive for Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's attack on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak is to make his son Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir the prime minister, said UMNO Supreme Council member Datuk Dr Mohd Puad Zarkashi.
He said this was why the former prime minister did not name Najib's successor if he resigned from the post.
He said Dr Mahathir was too obsessed with his agenda to make Mukhriz the prime minister that he was willing to hurl accusations against Najib and work with DAP leader, Lim Kit Siang.
Mohd Puad also reminded Mukhriz that there were no short-cuts to becoming UMNO president and the prime minister of the country.
"Clearly, Mukhriz and Dr Mahathir have failed to understand that ultimately, UMNO will reject leaders who are greedy for the crown and power, to the extent that they are willing to topple the president of UMNO with the help of DAP, which is the enemy of the Malays and Muslims," he said when contacted here today.
Last Friday, Dr Mahathir, who quit UMNO again on Feb 29, led the Citizen Declaration calling for the removal of Najib as Prime Minister.
