Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad showed up at DAP's 50th National Convention here today.
Dr Mahathir was seen standing alongside with his erstwhile enemies on stage when the party anthem was played.
Among them was DAP advisor, Lim Kit Siang.
DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng, when met by reporters, said Dr Mahathir presence was to create an element of suprise for the delegates.
"There are no permanent enemies or friends (in politics)," he said.
Earlier, it had been reported that Dr Mahathir, who has initiated a new opposition party called Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM), had not been invited to the convention.
Besides Dr Mahathir, who is also PPBM chairman, also present were Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) chairman, Mohamad Sabu, PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Maria Chin Abdullah, chairman of electoral reform movement Bersih. -- BERNAMA
