Wanita UMNO has urged PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to resign as the opposition leader and allow DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang to take over.

Its chief, Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil said Wan Azizah's attitude of often remaining silent during the Parliament sitting compared to Lim who was more outspoken, clearly showed that he was in fact in charge of the coalition.

"The DAP is more dominant in terms of the number of seats at 37 compared to PKR at 27 (seats) and to appoint Lim Kit Siang as the opposition leader would be more appropriate," she said in a statement today.

She said Wanita UMNO perceived the appointment of Dr Wan Azizah as the opposition leader by Lim as an effort to convince the Malays that the pact was dominated by a Malay leader, while DAP was actually the master mind.

"As DAP controlled more seats in Parliament compared to other opposition parties, Lim Kit Siang should then become the opposition's candidate for prime minister.

"If this happens, the Malays will then be aware that their choice of options in the upcoming 14th General Election is about choosing between Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Lim Kit Siang as the prime minister," she said.
