Yammy Samat, the mother of Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud, the DAP candidate at the Teluk Intan parliamentary seat by-election, said she was no longer with Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa (PERKASA).
Speaking at a press conference with her daughter at the DAP operations room here today, Yammy said she had unofficially left PERKASA, more than a year ago when she found the party had political leanings.
Also present at the press conference was DAP advisor, Lim Kit Siang.
"PERKASA should not be involved in politics. I left it a long time ago," said Yammy, while denying she had once held the post of PERKASA women's wing head.
Asked when Dyana Sofya found out about her membership in PERKASA, she said her daughter was recently informed about it after the issue was brought up by the media.
Yesterday, Dyana Sofya admitted her mother was a PERKASA member. Earlier, the DAP candidate said she did not know about Yammy's membership in the organisation although she had helped her mother manage a PERKASA programme.
