Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam has dismissed the elections called by Datuk Seri G. as "not MIC elections".
The Health Minister, who claims to be acting president, said:" Theirs are the elections of a non-governmental . There is only one series of MIC elections."
He advised branch chairmen and members to file their nomination papers on July 10, 11 and 12.
"Otherwise, the 3,400-odd branches might not function," he told reporters after chairing the Interim 2009 Central Working Committee meeting at the MIC headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, Tuesday.
Dr Subramaniam said the branches registered as of 2012 and had paid their membership fees up to 2015 were allowed to take part in the elections.
He said the branch chairmen would be informed about the elections by the end of this week and the branch elections would be held from July 20 to 26.
" confident 90 of the branch chairmen will file their nominations," he said.
The Interim 2009 CWC meeting chaired by Palanivel, Monday set September for the presidential election and July 24 to 26 for branch elections.
