UMNO and the Barisan Nasional (BN) need to act fast and be based on facts when countering slanders and allegations on the social media.
BN strategy and communication director Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan said BN ‘cybertroopers’ team should be fast in handling slanders as it spreads quickly in the social media.
“What the (cybertroopers) UMNO need are facts and speed," said Abdul Rahman during the Pre-launch of the 2015 Malaysia Day Ride program themed #TolakFitnahMediaSosial at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) today.
“Slanders have now reached a detrimental level. We have to stop or take action in order to reduce them,” he added.
The UMNO Supreme Council member said although the BN and UMNO have various initiatives to counter allegations, they need to be strengthened in line with technology.
“So, the UMNO secretary who is also the BN secretary needs to look into the current initiatives,” said Abdul Rahman said referring to Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.
