The Malaysian government, now led by the newly-appointed Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, will need to wisely manage the frustrations and anxieties of those who are dissatisfied with the outcome of the political crisis.
According to Datuk Dr Rais Hussin Mohamed Ariff, it is time for an open discourse to speak about the dissatisfaction arising from a week-long political turmoil that led to the collapse of the PH government.
“The focus must be on how to manage the anger (of the people), said Rais, BERSATU supreme council member.
“Let’s talk openly, we need to be frank. I think it is time for Malaysians to talk about this openly and candidly.”
In his opinion, Muhyiddin should not appoint any ministers who are involved in ongoing court cases into the Cabinet.
“To make sure that the independence of the judiciary is maintained, the executives must not interfere in any cases,” says Rais, who is also the CEO of Emir Research.
He also said that Muhyiddin’s focus at the moment should be on running the country.
“Improving the quality of life, creating jobs, (and creating) quality and affordable homes, affordable healthcare,” he said, adding that “the government should focus on what the people want and not what the politicians want”.
