Dr Mahathir (right) says he has no wish to contest in the next election, but the same cannot be said for Lim Kit Siang.
Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he has no wish to stand for the next election.
"That's the question that is always asked. We cannot say no absolutely because we may have a need.
"But at the moment, I have no wish to be a candidate again," the Pakatan Harapan chairman said during the "Insight Talk – Saving Malaysia: Friends and Foes" discussion on Facebook Live session this morning.
However, the same could not be said for his foe-turn-friend, DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang, who also a panelist at the event.
When asked the same question during, the DAP adviser merely answered "possible".
"We must be able to reach out to the young, and the young must be able to play a role.
"This does not mean that the oldsters have no role to play. In fact, I would like to see more Malaysians in their 70s, 80s and even 90s come forward together with the young Malaysians to reset nation building policies," Lim said.
Lim, who is 76, had previously announced that the coming general election will be his last electoral contest after being in the political arena for 51 years.
