Gerakan proposes legislation to control political funding

Gerakan has proposed that legislation be introduced to control political funding in the country.

Its president, Datuk Mah Siew Keong said the proposal to regulate sources of political funding was expected to be brought to Parliament before the 14th General Election.

"This way, the sources of political funding will be revealed to all," he said when opening the Gerakan Life Members Council meeting on Friday.

As a Barisan Nasional component party, he said Gerakan viewed transparency in political funding seriously and conducted a study on the matter.

The minister in the Prime Minister's Department said he would submit a proposal on the study to the authorities soon.
