Gerakan Harapan Baru (GHB) will contest in Sarawak'S next election, according to its spokesman.
The present Sarawak state legislative assembly term expires in June next year.
GHB spokesman Andri Zulkarnaen Hamden who was also PAS former Sarawak Information chief said GHB had not made any decision on whether to contest as a party or an independent.
"Sarawak GHB will appoint a committee soon. But we have already identified potential and experienced candidates.
"We are confident DAP and PKR will accept us as they had openly said they supported GHB's formation as a new party," he told Bernama today.
Last March, Sarawak DAP chairman Chong Chieng Jen announced that the party was leaving the state Pakatan Rakyat (PR) following PAS' decision to approve the hudud in Kelantan.
He claimed that PAS had diverted from the PR pact by implementing the Islamic law.
DAP is holding 12 of the 71 seats in the state assembly while PAS has never won any seat in the state election.
