The people are urged to give space to Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to solve the issues recently brought up by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
Terengganu UMNO Youth deputy chief, Datuk Dr. Najmil Mohamed Aris said the pressure by several quarters on the issues brought up by the former premier will only cause chaos and at the same time provide ammunition to the Opposition in their effort to topple Barisan Nasional (BN).
“Najib should be given space. Pressure will only destroy the plans which are being made. The questions brought up by Dr Mahathir are issues which have been answered by Najib.
“It gives ammunition to the Opposition and at the same time affect the members trust towards the current leadership,” said Dr najmil when contacted by Astro AWANI today.
Dr najmil was commenting on the critism by Dr Mahathir towards Najib which is widely being spoken about.
On Monday, UMNO Youth chief, Khairy Jamaluddin had expressed their full support towards Najib’s leadership.
Khairy explained that although the government is currently facing various challenges, he believes that it could be overcome as best as possible.
At the same time, Dr Najmil when asked an the pressure given by several quarters who ants Najin to resign, he said, “Najib was chosen by the party members and any changes should be made according to official channels.
“A change in leadership cannot be made just because of one person’s comment. Party members were given the mandate and when the time comes, the members will reevaluate if Najib’s Key performance Index (KPI) has been met or not. If not, it is only then that a possible candidate would be considered.”
He explained, as long as Najib was still leading the party, all quarters need to adhere to his leadership.
“We stand firm in providing our support to Najib although there were many critism including those who are pressuring for him to resign,” said Dr Najmil.
