The UMNO Youth wants the government to stand as guarantor for applicants under 'My First Home Scheme' who failed to get loan from financial institutions.
UMNO Youth leader Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said the suggestion came from Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Minister, Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan, who is also an UMNO Supreme Council (MT) member.
In his speech when winding up the debate on the UMNO Youth leader's policy speech at the movement general assembly Wednesday, Khairy said 'My First Home Scheme' came under the purview of the Finance Ministry.
On a request made by UMNO Youth last year for hire purchase scheme for medium cost houses, he said it had been implemented by the Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry.
As for houses reserved for Bumiputera, but not sold, Khairy said it could not be put on the open market until after a certain period.
The unsold units have to be handed over to the Urban Wellbeing, Housing and Local Government Ministry for three months to look for Bumiputera buyers, he added.
On the movement's assembly, Khairy praised the contents of the debate by the 13 representatives from the various states.
They all raised issues which are close to the people's heart, issues of interests to the people, he added.
