The Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) coalition has expressed its stance in full support of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s leadership as Prime Minister.
According to GPS Secretary-General, Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi, the support was conveyed by Sarawak Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg to Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, on Sunday.
Abang Johari, who is also the Chairman of GPS, also expressed his support to Dr Mahathir.
"The Sarawak CM has received unanimous mandate from the GPS Supreme Council and all MPs to support Dr Mahathir to continue to lead the Malaysian for the sake of the country," he said in a press statement on Tuesday.
On Sunday, Abang Johari held a meeting with GPS members of Parliament at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
However, no statement was made regarding the meeting and the GPS stand.
A special press conference scheduled to be held at the headquarters of Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Party in Jalan Bako, Kuching today was also cancelled.
