Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin today said the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Pledges launched today gave assurance that every district in Sabah will have adequate basic amenities if the GRS were given the mandate to lead the new Sabah state government.
He said the pledges encompassed all aspects including state development, economy, human capital, women and welfare.
"In regard to welfare, we will increase the financial aid for single mothers, senior citizens and other deserving groups. We are doing this because the current amount of financial aid given to those groups which is between RM200 and RM300 per month is no longer relevant and needs to be increased."
He said this to reporters after the launch of the document on GRS Pledges by Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin here today. GRS comprises PN, BN and Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS).
Also present were Sabah Bersatu chief Datuk Hajiji Noor, PBS deputy president Datuk Radin Maleh and Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) Datuk Yong Teck Lee.
Meanwhile, Hajiji said it was quite impossible for the pledges to be fulfilled within one or two years, but as long as the coalition received the mandate of the people, they would strive to fulfil each and every pledge they made.
He said the pledges are offers made by the coalition to the people of Sabah ahead of the Sept 26 state election.
"We hope the pledges we made today could convince the people to help and give their votes to GRS candidates," he said.
