Perak UMNO liaison secretary Datuk Saarani Mohammad said the expulsion of Gopeng Wanita UMNO division chief Datuk Hamidah Osman from UMNO did not come as a shock.
"The decision does not come as a shock if we were to follow her remarks on Twitter and Facebook," he told Bernama via the short-messaging system (SMS) tonight.
Saarani said it was the Gopeng UMNO division which reported Hamidah's actions to the UMNO Disciplinary Board.
"I cannot comment as I was not involved in the probe. The UMNO Supreme Council endorsed the Disciplinary Board's recommendation based on strong evidence.
"The Disciplinary Board does not make decisions based on hearsay. Usually, the accused is called to enter her defence," he added.
Meanwhile, Perak UMNO information chief Datuk Mohd Khusairi Abd Talib said it was the right decision.
